Manning First to Qualify for Ballot in Bid for Senate Seat
[The following press release was submitted by the Manning Committee.]
Mary-Ellen Manning, the current Governor’s Councilor for the North Shore, is the first official candidate running for the seat being vacated by state Sen. Fred Berry to qualify for the ballot.
A month ahead of the May 29, 2012 deadline, Mary-Ellen turned in the maximum number of certified signatures allowed by law along with her ethics disclosures to the Secretary of the Commonwealth. Manning is now officially on the ballot for the Second Essex State Senate seat.
“I am so grateful to my team of focused, effective and dedicated volunteers as well as to all the voters who signed my papers,” Manning said. “It is my honor to be given the opportunity to represent the North Shore—the five cities and towns that are nearest and dearest to me. To those of you who are lending your support, I vow to you: I will not let you down. I plan to bring to the state Senate the same work ethic and energy shown by the campaign team—setting priorities, achieving goals and working together efficiently—and improving our quality of life without wasting time, money or resources.”
The Second Essex district is comprised of Beverly, Danvers, Peabody, Salem and Topsfield and has been represented by Fred Berry (D-Peabody) for 30 years. The primary will be held on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012.

Great job on the Jeff Katz show Friday Mary-Ellen! It is great for the voters here to have a conservative like you running for this Senate seat against 2 corrupt ultra tax and spend liberals! Hope you will continue to campaign for lower taxes and smaller government! And heres hoping you can survive the dirty pool from that Democratic Party in this race--Jeff is right--I really wish you would switch parties! Those 2 people you are running against are real low lifes! Suggest you be the first to demand the EBT cards be done away with along with all those pet projects known as earmarks. Plus what about Duval Patricks massive staff and speaker De Leo's 35 billion dollar state budget. I hope you will pledge to cut those down to size. It is very interesting that state house insiders like Governor's Councillor Tom Merrigan and De Leo's right hand man Jim Vallee are among many not running for re-election this year. Perhaps it may have some thing to do with the Department of Justice investigation going on with elected officials!!

I would also like to add thanks to Mary-Ellen for acknowledging the volunteers. Working with, listening to and acknowledging the people in the community is just one of your many good qualities that make you good for good government.
