Veterans' Day Ceremony at Senior Center

  • November 10, 2010

Danvers is holding its annual Veterans' Day ceremony at the senior center Thursday morning – the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.

U.S. Army Maj. Clyde A. Dugas, the senior vice commander of C.W. Davis VFW Post 2359 and a Vietnam veteran, will be the guest speaker. The Danvers Veterans Council is in charge of organizing the ceremony and welcomes any member of the public to attend.

After American Legion Post 180 Adjutant Brue Eaton offers introductory remarks, Rev. Judy Proctor of the First Church of Danvers will deliver the invocation. Also participating in the ceremony are the Danvers High School Chamber Singers, the Danvers Boy and Girl Scouts, the Ladies Auxiliary, the Danvers Alarm List Company, the Danvers High School Band and Robert Haskell on bagpipes.

Members of the public are invited to place small flags in the veterans' wreath in memory of any veteran, whether living or dead, but should allow veterans to place their flags first.
