'Weeding Out the Facts' on Marijuana

WHAT: DanversCARES will host speaker Marilyn Grifoni Belmonte of Drug Abuse Recognition & Prevention Programs in Burlington for an informative evening on teen marijuana use.

Weeding Out The Facts” is a scientific-based presentation of the effects of marijuana on the adolescent brain, grades, athletic performance, driving and depression to help parents guide their children in making healthy choices.

Belmonte provides parent, student and professional seminars to school districts and businesses throughout Massachusetts. Her prevention programs are widely recognized and have been nominated for the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention Service to Science Award. She is a founding member of the Burlington Drug and Alcohol Task Force and will share the latest research on teen marijuana use with Danvers residents. 

WHEN: Tuesday, Feb. 1, 2011, 7-9 p.m.

WHERE: Holten Richmond Middle School, Multi-Purpose Room

WHY: Teen marijuana use is outpacing tobacco use as a drug of choice among teens nationally. This program is part of DanversCARES' Parent Enrichment Series.
