5 Things To Know on Oct. 9: Ghost Stories

A great way to start the day with a quick look at the events and happenings in town.

Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily resource for community events, happenings in town and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Tuesday, Oct. 9.

1. Clouds: Tuesday is forecasted to be a cloudy day with rain to start and a chance of showers throughout the day. Temperatures will top out in the 50s.

2. Trash: Do not forget that Columbus Day on Monday means that trash pickup is delayed by a day all week, starting on Tuesday.

3. Restaurants: Are you looking to try a new restaurant close to home at a reasonable price? You may want to check out the offerings at Beverly Restaurant Week, which runs through Thursday. There are 15 restaurants participating with either a 3-course dinner for $25 or 2-course dinner for $15, before tax, drinks and gratuities.

4. Benches: Some 1962 Danvers High School graduates are trying to locate any pictures of the benches which were outside Mr. Clay's office in the Holten Building in 1962. The benches were found as you entered the front door. The class is interested in restoring the "original" benches as a 50th anniversary gift to the school. Anyone who can help should contact Dot Richard at RogRnDotR@aol.com.

5. Ghosts: Hear some ghost stories at the Peabody Institute Library on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and also join in with some discussion.
