5 Things You Need to Know Today, Feb. 29

Your daily guide to the community events and happenings in Danvers.

Welcome to 5 Things, your daily resource for community events, happenings in town, and little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know today, Feb. 29, in Danvers:

1. It's the last day to celebrate Black History Month at North Shore Community College. At 1 p.m., head over to the campus library for the 23rd National African American Read-In. Later at 4 p.m., check out the free Library of Congress screening of A Conversation with African Poet and Writer Ali Mazrui. All events are free and open to the public.

2. Congratulations to Honda North, who we learned just received the Honda President's Award for 2011. The award is based on their achievement of excellence in all areas of operation – customer service and satisfaction, sales, training, and facility, and is Honda’s highest dealership honor. This is the fifth time they have earned the title. Nice job, Honda North!

3. Snow--it's coming. According to the National Weather Service's updates from last night, we should expect to see the first flakes sometime this afternoon. For a complete timeline of weather in Danvers, click here.

4. Speaking of snow, check out today's 5 Things Photo, added to your Neighborhood Gallery by user Maggie. The photo is of a newly installed bike rack on the rail trail. Great photo, Maggie! Thanks for sharing.

5. March is tomorrow - now is a good time to add your organization/business' event listings for the month to our calendar. It's easy, free, and gets the word out. Click here to add an event.
