Your daily guide to the events and happenings in Danvers.

Welcome to 5 Things, your daily resource for the events, happenings in town, and little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know today, Feb. 9, in Danvers:

1. A message from the Danvers Fire Department: Potential Scam Alert: Danvers residents are reporting receiving phone calls soliciting donations for the "Volunteer Fire Department". Danvers Fire Department is NOT conducting any telephone fundraising efforts at this time. Always be cautious of giving personal information, or credit card information, over the phone!

2. Today's 5 Things Photo: Boston Bruins players talked hockey and took part in arts and crafts projects with kids being treated at the Pediatric Cardiology Clinic at Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center on Monday, Feb. 6.  In the photo, 3-year-old Danvers resident Andre Ouimette, enjoyed spending time with Boston Bruins Left Wing Benoit Pouliot.

3. Join in North Shore Community College's  Black History Month celebration, at their screening of Stevie Wonder's Sketches of a Life, today at 4 p.m. All of the Black History Month events at the college are free and open to the public.

4. Tonight the Conservation Commission meets at 7 p.m. at Town Hall. Check out the meeting's agenda here.

5. We heard Salem Five is hosting family friendly events with Dustin Pedroia during Spring Training in Florida, and will send one family down for a private meet-and-greet with Dustin. Learn more in their announcement.
