Calling All Danvers Memories

The Danvers Historical Society is looking for longtime Danvers residents to share their memories of the town.

Do you have wonderful memories of Danvers past?

The Historical Society is looking for community members to share their stories of yesteryear, for what they hope to be an hour long documentary depicting what life was like in the first part of the 20st century in Danvers.

Active member of the Historical Society, and film maker Dan Tremblay plans to record each interview, in hopes of collating them into an hour long documentary.

What kinds of memories are they looking for?

"A couple of noteworthy stories that pop out in your life," Tremblay said. "They can be funny, enlightening, about a specific event in history. We're trying to find something that meets the needs of history buffs and normal people in town. We want to paint a picture of what it was like in the earlier times."

Tremblay, who shows his documentary films about the North Shore at Hollywood Hits, has also been participating in the Historical Society's Winter Film Fair.

"Film and music is my forte," he said, noting that he has time to do it now that he is partially retired. The idea for this larger project stemmed between Tremblay and Historical Society director Cathy Gareri.

The first Danvers Memories meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Tapley Hall from 1-2 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. To reserve a spot call 978.777.1666 or e-mail DHS@danvershistory.org
