Case Closed on Alleged Prostitution at Danvers Massage Parlor

The two women facing prostitution charges were arrested in Dec. 2011.

Charges against two 48-year-old females, who were arrested for alleged prostitution back in December 2011, were dropped on Tuesday when the lead investigator and police failed to show up for the court hearing, the Salem News reported

On Dec. 16, Danvers Police arrested Xiaoping Wan, 48, of 10 Walford Way in Charlestown, and Quinfei Chan, 48, of 29 Main St. in Malden, both on charges of offering sex for a fee and deriving support from prostitution.

In December, Police Sergeant Robert Bettencourt said police started investigating Newbury Body Work, a massage parlor at 435 Newbury St., following several complaints that the business was offering sexual services.

Captain Patrick Ambrose told the Salem News that the lead investigator, Detective Tim Williamson, is on a special assignment and was not able to attend the proceedings on June 19. Ambrose said he was unsure why the Ipswich officer was not present.

Ambrose told the Salem News that the department is looking at refiling the charges.

The article says they started investigating this in December. So here it is almost 7 months later and it goes to court and the officers don't show up. What a waste of time and taxpayer money. There ought to be a law.....................

This business is in the same location as my business. I have been seeing this illegal activity for 6 years. The police started looking at this in September and now no charges are filed due to police error! By the way they are back in business with some new employees!!!

What about the owner of the establishment? Why don't the police pursue that angle?
