Cosmetology Salon Opens for Walk-in Service at Essex Aggie

North Shore Community College students in the cosmetology department are opening up their own salon at Essex Aggie to offer walk-in services to the public at reasonable prices.

Want to stay stylish on a reasonable budget? Students in a cosmetology clinic at North Shore Community College may just be able to offer what you're looking for, starting next Tuesday.

The cosmetology clinic – a student-run, instructor-supervised hair, skin and nail salon – opens for business Nov. 23. You can walk in from 9 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. for a facial, manicure, pedicure, scalp treatment, haircut, blow dry, roller set and more.

"Our students can take up to 30 clients a day. We view this service as a win-win, as our students need people…to work on and our clients can enjoy considerable savings by coming to the salon," says Cosmetology Department Chair Kathy Champlain. "We ask that our customers remember that this is a teaching/learning environment and allow a little extra time and patience," she adds.

The salon will be open to the public most Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until May. The salon is located inside Maude Hall on the Essex Agricultural and Technical High School campus at 562 Maple St. in Danvers.

An evening nail program will also be offered. Call 978-762-4000 ext. 1517 for the monthly salon schedule and for more information.
