Danvers Backs Winners Duff and Lovely in Primary, Puts Bennett on Ballot
Joan Lovely and Eileen Duff won on Thursday and topped the ballot in Danvers too, and Daniel Bennett got enough write-in votes to make the ballot for state representative in November.
Winners in Thursday's Democratic Party primary - Joan Lovely and Eileen Duff - both topped the ballot on Thursday in Danvers.
Joan Lovely was first in a field of four Democrats in the Second Essex District seat in the state Senate. Across the five community district, she received 50 percent of the vote. In Danvers, she got 55 percent of the vote.
Republicans also gave Daniel Bennett, who currently serves as a selectmen, the required 200 write-in votes that will mean he has enough to go on the November general election ballot for the state representative, the Salem News reported.
Eileen Duff, who won the Democratic primary for Governor's Councilor from the Fifth District, won 29 percent of the vote in Danvers.
