Danvers used some key shots in the final minute-plus to push its way into the state semifinal round.

Jake Cawlina made just three baskets during Saturday's North Division 2 final. He made sure his third one, however, was a memorable one.

The Danvers senior drilled a tiebreaking trey from the corner against Wayland in the closing minutes to give the Falcons the lead. Danvers held on for the 57-52 victory and advanced to play in the state semifinal round.

“We knew how tough it was going to be, how good they are, how talented they are,” said Danvers coach John Walsh. “We’ve played them in the tournament the past three years, so we were in for a fight. We knew that.”

Danvers next plays at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday at TD Garden against Martha's Vineyard with a berth in the state title game on the line.
