Danvers Fire Chief Kevin Farrell was arrested early Wednesday morning on domestic assault and battery charges as well as intimidation of a witness at his Groveland apartment.
According to police there were no injuries to his wife and no weapon was used.
Police began searching for Farrell and attempted to find him by "pinging" to determine the location of his cell phone, the Salem News reported.
When that didn't work, they pinged Farrell's wife's cell phone and traced Farrell to the apartment in Groveland.
Farrell was sworn in as Danvers Fire Chief in June 2011.
