Danvers Honors Veterans Monday for Memorial Day
The annual Memorial Day parade begins and ends at Town Hall Monday morning.
Memorial Day ceremonies in Danvers step off Monday, May 30 at 9 a.m. with the annual parade through town.
The parade route begins and ends in front of Town Hall. Members of Battery A, 101st Field Artillery, 2nd Corps Cadets, will lead the parade as Grand Marshal. The battery, which meets in the Danvers Armory, returned in December from an active tour of duty in Afghanistan, seeing intense combat action.
All Danvers veterans are encouraged to participate in the parade. For those who are unable to march on Monday, a handicapped accessible trolley will be at Town Hall.
The parade will follow the traditional route of years past through town, stopping at Porter Cemetery on High Street, Lane Parkway and the Memorial Flag Pole in Danvers Square to place wreaths. A reviewing stand will be at the corner of Elm and Essex streets.
The parade ends at Town Hall approximately at 10 a.m. for the conclusion of the Memorial Day ceremonies. Lt. Mark Gauthier, Commander of Battery A, will be the guest speaker.
