Danvers Man Saved by Heroic Plowdriver

A Danvers man was pulled from a burning car on I-95 earlier this week.

A Danvers man was pulled from his burning car just before it exploded earlier this week, following a crash on I-95 in Peabody, reports Patch news partner WHDH.

The crash happened early Tuesday morning.

Howie Lane of Essex was plowing the road at about 2 a.m. when he heard "a big noise" that "jolted the truck," he told channel 7.

Lane went into action. The Jeep that struck the plow was on fire and the driver inside - later identified as Franco Carullo, 35, of Danvers - was unconscious.

Long and his plowing partner pulled the man — whose pants had caught on fire — from the Jeep. The door was locked so he smashed the window to get to Carullo.

Howie lane saved my life. I'm forever grateful that he was there that night. If it weren't for him I more than likely would've burned to death.
