The National Weather Service is warning of a flash freeze across much of eastern Massachusetts this afternoon.
Temperatures have plummeted to below freezing after warmer weather turned the snowstorm into rain, freezing rain and sleet this morning.
The NWS is warning that untreated roads will become icy and is urging drivers and walkers to use extra caution this afternoon and evening.
Meanwhile, Massachusetts State Police are reporting numerous skidding incidents and spinouts and are asking drivers to stay off the road, if possible, or drive slowly and leave plenty of space between vehicles.
In better weather news, the NWS only expects light precipiation the rest of the afternoon and evening with an occasional light freezing drizzle or snow.
