1975:

Because the state passed a law to make new gun registration tougher, Danvers saw a surge in firearms licenses--roughly 4,000, or at the time, one in five Danvers residents, had a license to carry. Police Chief Edward Farley was quoted stating "I think we're got an armed camp here."

The Essex county commissioners were investigating a proposal to establish a county jail at the former site. The centralized prison would have replaced the jails in Salem and Lawrence.

For the first time, girls were allowed to particiapte in Danvers Little League. 15 Danvers girls took advantage of the new ruling. The previous year, four girls who showed interest in joining, had been turned away.

1974:

Natalie's Restaurant, a long time staple in Danvers on Route 114, received a liquor license. Natalie's received the license from the Cherlydon, former business in the same location, which was desribed as a "controversial nightspot." The Cheryldon had its music and dancing licenses removed after numerous complaints two years earlier.

Members of the Mr. and Mrs. Club renewed their marriage vows in a giant ceremony at . A large reception was held at the auditorium afteward.

The -owned land near the intersection of Ash and Sylvan Streets was offered to Danvers for free to build the new police headquarters.
