Downed Utility Poles Cause Route 114 Closure at Danvers-Peabody Line
A major highway has been closed on Thursday morning because of downed utility lines.
Route 114 has been closed on Thursday morning after several utility poles came crashing down to the road as a rain shower and gusty winds moved through the area.
It happened at about 9:50 a.m. at the Danvers-Peabody line near Outback Steakhouse.
Danvers Police said on its Facebook page that “emergency crews are currently on scene but the road is being closed for safety; Avoid the area at this time and check back for updates.”
Peabody Police reported that about six poles were either down on the road or bent. Some of the poles contained transformers that had smashed on the road.
Check back for further updates on this developing story.

One would hope a lesson can learned by burying utilities underground on major hiways.
