The Falcons avenged two losses to Beverly High School earlier this year, winning when it counted the most on Friday night and advancing in the postseason while leaving the Panthers with only their second loss of the season.
A goal by senior left wing A.J. Couto with 11 second left broke the 3-3 tie and gave Danvers High School the win, reports the Salem News and many tweeters who were at the game.
The Falcons play next on Monday at Chelmsford Forum versus No. 1 Concord-Carlisle, who defeated No. 13 Watertown High School on Friday night. Game time Monday is 6 p.m.
Beverly, at 18-1-1, was the top seed in the Div. 2 North tournament and had beaten Danvers twice in the regular season. No. 8 Danvers is now 12-6-4 and got to Friday night's game on a 9-1 win over Somerville High School.
Elation about Friday night's win overflowed from Falcons fans on Twitter.
"I'm not even anywhere near a part of the hockey team, and words can't describe how pumped I am for the hockey team," wrote one tweeter.
Others teeted that the win made them proud to be from Danvers.
