A great way to start the day with a quick look at the events and happenings in town.
Welcome to “5 Things,” your daily source for community events, happenings in town and other little tidbits of information. Here are five things you need to know on Tuesday, March 19.
1. Storm: The winter storm – with snow at first and later a mix of sleet, freezing rain and rain – will stick around for the entire day. Forecasters says that about 4 inches of snow will accumulate before the changeover. It may turn back to snow at the very end of Tuesday night too.
2. Candidates: Tuesday is the deadline for candidates for any town offices this spring to turn in their nomination papers at the Town Clerk's office at Town Hall. Town Meeting candidates are required to hand in at least 10 certified signatures and townwide candidates 50 certified signatures.
3. Buy Local: Northeast Harvest Buy Local is hosting the Annual Northeast Harvest Agricultural Conference on Tuesday at Coolidge Hall at the Topsfield Fairgrounds. It is scheduled to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
4. Art: Congratulations to Katherine G Lantych for her artwork “Anabelle,” which was the Danvers High School winner in the recent 6th Congressional District High School Art Awards.
5. Selectmen: The Danvers Board of Selectmen meets on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Town Hall, with an agenda that calls for the board to consider a warrant article before Town Meeting about the proposed dog park at Endicott Park.
