Welcome back, Patch Blogger!

Get Your Danvers Patch Widget

A new, embeddable widget will allow you to stream a Patch news feed on your own Web site.

Widgets. Get your widgets here.

As part of our commitment to serve our readers and the community better, Danvers Patch now offers an embeddable news feed widget for users to add to their own websites.

This exciting feature will provide a running feed of fresh, local news content. Each time our site is updated with a new story, the widget will update the news feed on your own website. If you are a school, business, community or government organization, or a Danvers blogger who wants a way to keep users updated on local happenings, check out the Patch News Widget.

To get started, visit our widgets page. You can copy and paste the widget code into your website, or you can customize the news you want to receive in your widget. You can also follow the step-by-step instructions in the photo gallery below.

You may be asking yourself, "What's a widget?" Or, "Why would I want a widget?" Here are some answers to your questions.

What's a widget?

Depending on what it does, a widget can add awesome functionality or content to your site, with you barely lifting a finger to get it. For example, our first Patch widget is a cool local news feed. So if you have a local business, government or school website, or maybe a local blog, the Patch News Widget can be an easy source of trusted local content for your site.

Why would I want to use a widget, and where would I put it?

You can put a widget on your personal website or blog, if you have one.

How do I install the widget?

Click on the "Widgets" tab at the bottom of the page to get started. You can follow the instructions in the photo gallery below to copy the widget code, and paste it directly into the code on your website. Pretty soon we'll offer a quick and easy way to install it onto various types of websites and blogs, but for now, try the old-school copy and paste.

Can I use the widget if I don't have my own website?

No, you'll need your own website or blog to use the widget. We hope to offer other ways for you to post widgets in the future, but for now, you'll need your own website.

How can I get my own website?

That's a huge can of worms you want us to open! For now, Patch doesn't offer that service.

Will Patch be creating more cool widgets that I can put on my website?

Definitely. Stay tuned.

How can I change the color of the widget?

Right now, we don't have a way for you to chance the color of the widget. But we hope to add a widget color-changing feature soon.
