High School Evacuated After Gas Main Break

Danvers High School was evacuated on Wednesday afternoon with a gas main was struck and ruptured in the adjacent construction site.

 

Danvers High School was evacuated on Wednesday afternoon after a gas line on the neighboring school construction site was struck and began leaking.

The fire alarm was activated at about 2 p.m. when the odor of gas was reported in the school. The school was completely evacuated.

As of 2:15 p.m., National Grid was at the school working to control the leak.

Danvers Fire Department crews on scene report that there was a “definite odor” of gas in the building.
