Armed Robbery Reported at Market Basket Saturday Night
The Market Basket in Danvers was robbed at gunpoint on Saturday night.
An armed robbery occurred at the Market Basket in Endicott Plaza on Saturday night.
It happened at about 7 p.m. The store typically closes at 9 p.m. and remained open afterward. After the robbery was reported, Danvers police searched the area and a State Police helicopter hovered overhead, using a search light to scan the area for a suspect.
The suspect was a tall white man in his 40s wearing a grey winter jacket, according to description broadcast to area police departments on Saturday after the robbery.
No further details were available from Danvers police on Saturday night. An officer that answered the phone said it was under investigation by Detective Sgt. Bill Carlton and more information will be available on Monday.
An attempted armed robbery also occurred at the A.L. Prime Gas station in Lord Square in downtown Ipswich on Saturday night at about 9 p.m. It was not immediately clear whether the two robberies were connected.
Ipswich Police Sgt. Jonathan Hubbard told the Boston Globe that the robber showed a firearm but then took off before getting any money. He added that police are still investigating the incident.
The A.L. Prime station is about 12 miles to the northeast of the Market Basket in Danvers.

Why rob places like this at gunpoint when you can rob businesses and working people legally just by signing up for all of Obama's social programs?

These businesses were most likely robbed by people already on all of Obama's social programs... for example the ones living at the welfare motel down the street from Market Basket.
