Mayor Menino Endorses Elizabeth Warren for U.S Senate
He gave his endorsement at a pro-Warren rally in Roslindale on Friday afternoon.
Mayor Thomas Menino endorsed U.S. Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren for United States Senate during a pro-Warren rally in Roslindale on Friday.
Menino, a Democrat, said he did not endorse Warren right away because he "wanted to get to know her" first. And he came to his final decision by pretending he wasn't the mayor, he said.
"What if I was just a guy from Hyde Park who had a job with the city, whose wife was an accountant and worried about their retirement savings," he said. "What if I was any guy who wondered how his two kids would send his six grandkids to college, and whether they would have good jobs on the other end. If I wasn’t the Mayor, who would speak up in Washington on my behalf? I thought to myself, if I was any guy from Hyde Park, Elizabeth would have my back, and so I have hers,” he said.
Warren told supporters she was "deeply honored" by Menino's support.
“Tom Menino has long been one of the most powerful voices for working families here in the Commonwealth and throughout the country," she said. "Throughout all of the amazing achievements of his career, he has never lost sight of where he came from — the neighborhoods of Boston. His tireless advocacy has helped revitalize Boston's neighborhoods, create a vibrant city, and strengthen our schools so that our kids and families have a fair shot at success and the American dream. I am proud to stand with Mayor Menino and I look forward to working together on this campaign and in our efforts to fight for a level playing field for hardworking men and women here in Boston and across Massachusetts.”
Warren is facing incumbent Senator Scott Brown in a tight race that has seen multiple lead changes through polling in the last few weeks. The two faced off in their first debate on Thursday night.

What else is new, The Hippo endorses the Orangoutang.
In Massachusetts let's face it folks, anywhere else in the Country Scott Brown would be called a democrat, Teisi would be labeled as a liberal democrat and Romney would be labeled a democrat. In fact Romney is more liberal than Ronald Reagan and we liked him, right ? But let's face it, when I say I live in Hamilton, despite my small house and economical car. My price on anything negotiable just went up and my bargaining position down. People are jealous over other peoples wealth and envy extra large gas guzzling cars parked at a home with a three car garage whose families eat out at least three evenings during the week and head off to their NH home to ski and their winter get away at Sanabel Island. Anyone who tells me otherwise is full of shiche.

He's the best comedy act in politics. Recently,at the convention, he made a comment about Martha Luther King. That's gold.

I'm disgusted that a woman who squaks at us about a rigged system and making sure everyone gets an equal chance is pulling $750,000.00 per year out of an educational institution. What a hypocrit. She wants to help the middle class as long as it is with other peoples money.

I don't like her but Harvard is a private school and she is taking what they give her, wouldn't you? Politicians are all rich hypocrits. If high priced colleges don't spend the money they will soon be under the microscope.

Sean...Where did you get that $750k number? Brown's own website only says $350k. Let's not use hyperbole and numbers picked from thin air in the discussion.
And Kirsten... "The Hippo endorses the Orangutan"? Really?
With comments like that from Warren's opposition, she deserves to win.
By the way...you may not have intended this, but you sound as though YOU are jealous of other people's wealth with your description of a modest home and car vs those with assets you describe in the rest of your comment.

Jay B., I believe Sean is referring to the combined salary from Harvard of Warren and her husband which IS approximately $750,000. Some people wonder why college tuition is so high and they have to look no further than the Warren-Mann duo to see why. Warren teaches 1 class a week and is paid $300,000. There is NO college on the face of this earth worth what these colleges are charging. They are filled with layer upon layer of redundant administration.

The Republicans and the Democrats are both controlled by the rich. Basically, there are two kinds of rich folks in the US: the ones who don't care about people like us (the Republicans) and the ones who Know What's Best for us (the Democrats). Guess which ones are more dangerous.

As for the topic of this article, wouldn't you love to be a fly on the wall to listen to a conversation between Warren and Menino ? I can just imagine that pained smile she has perfected as she attempts to decipher (1) what the hell this guy is talking about and (2) how has this brain dead idiot managed to be Boston's Mayor for Life ? I believe, for this endorsement however, the Mayor's "Menino-to-English" translator was on hand. Btw, the country's alleged "leading consumer advocate" made $212,000 representing Traveler's Insurance (the insurer's for Johns Manville Corp. asbestos company) against asbestos victims and attempted to protect JMC from future asbestos victim claims. So, in addition to her blatant lies about her ancestry, her claim to be "fighting for consumers" has been invalidated as well. Despicable woman.

She is a classic phony liberal, right down to scamming affirmation action laws to get herself into the ivy league. Sadly at least half the Mass electorate will fall for her ads and claims to care about the "little people". Both she and Obama may win by turning people against each other with envy and resentment. Not a proud moment for this country that used to be about opportunity and hard work. Now it is about what can the government do for me and who else can pay for it.

Could never vote for Warren who seems to be a master at half-truths, twisting and also ignoring facts if unfavorable to her, and a stance that the Republicans are to blame for everything bad that ever happened! She says vote for Democratic saints or disaster will strike!! I.E.= abortion and birth control will become illegal, environmental agencies will be headed by those who deny global warming, women will not continue to get equal pay as men, and ALL these present laws on the books will be UNDONE! She is either a complete party- line parrot or a very unintelligent person? Scott Brown appears more concerned with issues than party, which I agree with 100%. Most fair minded people do. Scott Brown is a hack plain and simple. He is a creation of Martha Coakley's inability to run a decent campaign. He was a light weight as a lawyer, as a state senator, and in now in Congress. Its very telling that he opened up the debate not by gloating about his record in the Senate but by attacking Warren. When you don't have a record that's what you do!
As to being the master of half-truths, wasn't it Brown that said (MANY TIMES) that he was meeting with Kings and Queens. Those weren't just half-truths they were no-truths!

Besides her blatant lies about her ancestry, it has now been discovered that Elizabeth Warren has been practicing law in Massachusetts WITHOUT A LICENSE ! Of course, given that this IS Massachusetts, this probably makes her a more desirable candidate for Liberals here.
