Annual MLK Dinner Honors Leaders of Justice [IMAGES/VIDEO]

The 12th Annual Martin Luther King Dinner was held at the Danversport Yacht Club on Jan. 16.

Five North Shore residents and businesses dedicated to the virtues of Martin Luther King Jr. were honored at the .

Hosted by the , the twelth annual dinner was held attended by state and town officials on Jan. 16 at the .

Keynote speaker and Drum Major Award recipient Georgianna Melendez challenged the audience to do your best, find something that you're passionate about, and get involved. Melendez, a Peabody native, is the executive director of Commonwealth Compact, an organization striving to make Boston a welcoming, diverse place to live.

Alongside Melendez, the recepients of the Drum Major of Justice Award were: Juliet Sithole-Berk for her work with minorities in the health care field, Emily Jones, a student activist and Newman Civic Fellow at , as well as Paul and Donna Pepper, for the work at 's .

Musical selections were performed by the Chamber Singers and Women's Chorus led by Matthew Haynes, as well as the Interfaith Choir Follow Hymn, led by Doreen Murray.
