Pedestrian Struck Following Danvers Fireworks

The hit and run incident happened on Conant Street just before 11 p.m.

 

A pedestrian walking across Conant Street was struck in a hit and run following the Danvers Fireworks Festival. 

Police responded to the scene at 10:54 p.m., and the female victim was transported to Beverly Hospital with minor injuries. 

Police Captain Patrick Ambrose said the situation is still under investigation.

I don't think that an accident at almost midnight would account for traffic being so bad after fireworks that ended about 10:15. It might have had something to do with all the traffic lights all flashing around the school and the square. I don't think that was a good idea. The lights at Poplar and Locust was all backed up in one direction when I came through. Both directions were blinking red. Some people don't realize that you are supposed to take turns.

Thank you for pointing that out, Cathy, because that was a typo. The incident occurred at 10:54 p.m. -- not 11:54. We fixed it.
