Roads Slick with Snow Causing Numerous Cars to Slide Off the Road Today
As the first snowfall of the year lightly fell Monday afternoon, the slick conditions led to multiple motor vehicle accidents during the afternoon.
Not long after snowflakes began to drift from the sky early this afternoon, reports of multiple motor vehicle accidents began to pour in, starting around 2 p.m. as snow began to fall faster.
Most accidents occurred along state highways (routes 128 and 95) from 2-3:30 p.m. as cars slid off the slick roadway. State highway and police units and local public safety crews were kept busy with call after call during that time.
One rollover accident was reported just before 2 p.m. on Route 95 North near the ramp to Route 1 South at the Topsfield line. Police, fire and emergency medical services responded to the scene and used the Jaws of Life to extricate one pinned occupant inside the vehicle. Further details are not available at this time.
Snow showers are being forecasted for this evening on into Tuesday and drivers are urged to use caution while out on the roads.
