Santa by Sea, Christmas Trees by Land

Jolly Old St. Nick is coming in by boat to Pope's Landing on Saturday. If you haven't bought a Christmas tree yet, this weekend would be a good occasion for it. Read on for even more things to do!

Santa is coming in by boat Saturday afternoon to Danversport. The third annual holiday celebration at Pope's Landing – Santa by Sea – starts at noon, featuring pony rides, train rides, horse-drawn wagons, moon bounces, food, hot cocoa and more, and it's all free. Santa comes into dock at 12:30 p.m.

You may also be interested in checking out the "Classic Christmas" at the House of the Seven Gables in Salem this Saturday. The exhibit is a combination of rooms in the house decked out to represent scenes of famous works and features one room decorated by Cathy Gareri and Deborah Riva of Danvers. Tickets for adults are $12.

The Back Bay Ringers "Let it Snow" Saturday night at Maple Street Congregational Church. The hand bell ensemble will ring out a variety of holiday classics and some original compositions, starting at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors and students. Children get in free.

Holy Trinity United Methodist Church is hosting a Christmas Concert Sunday at 5 p.m., featuring church choirs, youth and adult hand-bell ensembles and special guest soprano Teresa Winner Blume. Admission is free, but free-will offerings will be collected. There's also a reception with cocoa and crumpets after the concert.

And if you haven't gotten a tree yet, here are a few places you might want to look, whether you're looking to buy one off the lot or cut your own Christmas tree this year.
