Selectmen Vote to Dismiss Prospect of Obtaining Wadsworth Farm
Selectmen voted to not exercise the option of buying Wadsworth Farm, an 9.9 acre parcel currently for sale by Wadsworth Farm Inc. for $1,049,050.
Last night Selectmen voted to not exercise the option of buying Wadsworth Farm, an 9.9 acre parcel currently for sale by Wadsworth Farm Inc. for $1,049,050.
Town Manager Wayne Marquis asked the Planning Board, Conservation Commission, and Open Space Recreation Advisory Committee to look into this property and provide input as far as potential for purchasing it as open space.
Wadsworth Farm, a Chapter 61a property, is currently used as a dressage and boarding facility for horses and riders.
Marquis said at the Selectmen meeting that the input received was consistent among each group. "This is certainly always desirable," he said. "But given limited finances, priorities need to be met. $1,050,000 would be a significant amount of money [when] it isn't located as stategically as others."
While the Board opted to not exercise this option, they have until September 11 to make a decision. Marquis noted that no action is the same as a vote to dismiss the option.
