Slattery to Kick Campaign Off in Danvers This Sunday
A meet and greet will be held in Danvers on March 18 from 2-4 p.m. at the home of John Archer, who lives at 10 North St.

Peabody's John Slattery, one of three Democratic candidates vying for the 2nd Essex District seat in the state Senate, will be kicking off his campaign this Sunday in Danvers.
Salem city councilor Joan Lovely got her campaign underway with supporters at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem last Sunday and Governor's Councilor Mary-Ellen Manning (also a Peabody resident) was the first out of the gate, holding a campaign event at the Elks Club in Peabody in January.
All three are practicing attorneys and hoping to fill the shoes of retiring Senator and Peabody native Fred Berry.
Slattery's meet and greet this Sunday will be at the home of John Archer (10 North St.) from 2-4 p.m. The campaign also launched an official website last month and is now on Facebook.
A one-term Peabody city councilor, Slattery, 53, went on to represent Peabody in the state legislature from 1995-2003, but has not run for office in several years after losing a bid for mayor against Michael Bonfanti in 2005. Slattery also ran for lieutenant governor in 2002.

And, after much soul searching, Bob Curley is now against the death penalty. While it was painful then, he would now agree with the decision made.

The issue isn't about the death penalty. I understand arguments on both sides of the issue. Bob Curley changed his position after much soul searching. John Slattery did it based on political expedience. This is exactly the type of guy that cannot be trusted.
