Director Kyla Fallon said the students have been rehearsing since the middle of September. Fallon, a Danvers High graduate herself, participated in the theater department at DHS and went on to a degree in the arts from Boston College.
While working as an aid in the Danvers School system, Fallon was told about a position in the theater department. From there, she said, it was the right place at the right time.
Now, this is Fallon's sixth production she has directed at Danvers High. She said she has tried to introduce many different types of shows to her students, including writing their own scripts, dance-heavy shows, audience-participation, and more. Beauty and the Beast, she said, is the first performance in recent years that the whole family can enjoy.
Alongside the 40 high school cast mates, Falon worked with her old elementary school music teacher, Mrs. Gail Rappoli, to include 28 kids from the Smith Elementary School as part of the cast.
