St. John’s Prep Graduates 332

The rain stayed away for commencement exercises at St. John’s Prep on Sunday. The 332 graduates of the Class of 2011 dedicated their matriculation to the Class of 1961, which was in attendance, donning straw hats.

St. John’s Preparatory School graduated 332 seniors from around Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire on Sunday morning.

The all-boys Catholic high school held its 101st commencement exercises at the campus, in which retiring Headmaster Albert J. Shannon, Ph.D. awarded diplomas to each graduate and praised them for their achievements over the past four years.

“For four years, we have challenged you to become peacemakers, on campus and in the wider community. Now, we call on you to become someone’s miracle, to use your gifts and your Xaverian-inspired experiences to make your mark and bring about change in our world,” said Shannon in his prepared remarks.

Peter Dankert of Andover, a physics teacher at the Prep, delivered the commencement address. Dankert began his career at St. John’s in 2005.

The Prep is a Xaverian Brothers-sponsored secondary school for young men and was founded in 1907.
