Where Were You During Neil Armstrong's Moon Landing?
The first man on the moon Neil Armstrong, died this weekend.
On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and his partner Buzz Aldrin made history as the first people to ever walk on the moon.
Armstrong died at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, suffering complications following his recent cardiac bypass surgery. He was 82.
As we look back on his life, we hope you will share your memories of where you were when you first saw Amrstrong take"one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."
If you were not born when Armstrong walked on the moon, tell us when you first saw video from the moon landing.

I was 5 yrs old, on vacation in upstate NY w/ extended family. I remember it being a big deal, because Uncle Bob was allowed to bring a portable TV, which was usually forbidden on vacation. It's my first memory of anything outside my family life!

I was in Tangier, Morocco, in a small open aired cafe watching it on a small black and white TV. I remember wondering if the people around me, dressed in long robes and speaking rapid Arabic while drinking strong mint tea and smoking...well, you know, believed someone was actually walking on the moon.

Well I was almost 5 years old at the time and I remember the whole family gathered together and silently watching the event. At the time I didn't realize the significance of this event but I knew it was important from the reactions of the adults. This is one of my earliest memories and while it is more the memory of a feeling than of the actual events it has stuck with me since then.

I was in the Navy, stationed in Iceland. We were given the day off by Nixon. the terrain in Iceland had been used for training the astronauts. I was so glad we had the day off, I voted for Nixon in the fall. I should have gone to Tangiers with Jay Burnham. We had a black and white TV in Rec.Room that only had AFRTS for programing. This was entertaining stuff.Iceland was definitely the place to watch a moon landing! I was 24 yrs. old and proud of my country.

My family and I had come home from church. It was Sunday afternoon when they landed and the anticipation was electric. I was 16 years old and had watched all the flights. It was awesome ! The TV coverage was excellent.

Gail and I were having lunch in a gasthouse in Weiden, Germany. I was an army officer and in charge of two border camps near the W. German/Checz border. Gail had driven up from our base camp to visit and we broke away from camp for lunch.
We were the only Americans in the place and when they landed the place went nuts.
All of the Gremans were patting me on the back (I was wearing army cloths) like I had something to do with it. Pretty exciting stuff to say the least.

I was in my playpen, pacifier in mouth. The Moon ... Stickle Bricks -- for me, it was all a frontier to be explored and conquered.
