  • Hurricane Edna came through the area, just a week after Hurricane Carol.

  • Richard Brown led the Danvers Pony League in all-time pitching and batting records. 

  • The annual "Jimmy Fund Tag Days" were being held all across town. 

  • Only 13% of the town's registered voters took part in the state primaries.
