Two Drivers Hurt in Head-on Crash

The drivers of each of the cars that crashed head-on Tuesday evening on Tuesday night were injured.

Two women were injured in a head-on crash on Locust Street on Tuesday evening.

The crash happened at about 4:45 near the intersection of North Street.

One driver, a female in a Jeep sport utility vehicle, was unconscious when rescuers arrived and she was immediately transported to Beverly Hospital. The driver of a Subaru station wagon was also injured and taken to Beverly Hospital, according to the Danvers Fire Department.

Neither driver was trapped in the car but neither could not get out on their own.

“They had to be removed from the cars,” said firefighter Brian Barry, one of the responders.

Nobody besides the drivers were involved in the crash, he said.

The crash partially closed Locust Street for a time. Northbound traffic on Locust Street (Route 35) was redirected up Wenham Street. Traffic coming southbound on Locust Street and coming from North Street was slowed but was able to get past the crash scene. The road was completely reopened by 5:30 p.m.

Further details on the driver’s names and injuries were unavailable on Tuesday night and Danvers Police Lt. Carole Germano said that a report on the crash had yet to be filed and that no further details were available.
