It was exactly 34 years ago this Sunday that Danvers was blanketed in a thick snow, notoriously remembered as the Blizzard of '78.

We thought it would be fun for our first installment of Vintage Danvers to look back at the snowy days of the Feb. 5-7, 1978, especially in comparison to our bleak, mild winter 2012.

Understandably, many might not consider the 1970's 'vintage,' but if you have photos from then, or earlier in Danvers, we'd love to include them in our gallery.

Today's photo, courtesy of Thomas Marsella and the Peabody Institute Library, is from Adams Street. "The back door was snowed in and unable to open. I had to squeeze out the front door and begin to shovel. We were standing level with the porch roof line."
