Presidents' Day on Monday is a federal holiday. It is always the third Monday of February and is always the first Monday of the February school vacation week for public school students.
The day is designed to honor Washington – whose birthday is officially Feb. 22 – as well as all other U.S. presidents, including Abraham Lincoln, who was born on Feb. 12. “Washington’s Birthday” was made a federal holiday in 1885.
