What's Moving Into the Crab House? [POLL]
Find out in today's You Ask, Patch Answers.
Wondering what's happening at the vacant Crab House building on Endicott Street?
The Zoning Board of Appeals has granted variances at 182 Endicott St. that will allow a McDonald's to join the Endicott Street block of fast food restaurants, the Salem News reported.
The Crab House, which closed in 2008, was originally purchased by Tio Juan's Margarita's Mexican Restaurant.
In Jan. 2011, Danvers Patch learned from Town Manager Wayne Marquis that Margaritas was “tightening its belt” amid corporate restructuring and forgoing plans to open new locations.
This will be the fourth McDonald's in Danvers, with locations on Andover Street, High Street, and one across the street from the new store, inside the Liberty Tree Mall.
Do you think Danvers needs another McDonald's? Vote in our poll and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

So, what happens to the liquor license that was issued to that property?

It was transferred to the proposed restaurant (Margarita's) and when they decided not to open, they turned it back in to the town. It was subsequently re-issued when we re-issued the three licenses to I Pazzi, 9 Elm, and Hong Kong Cafe.
The other two license were available because we got one new one when the census was completed and the other was when we revoked the license for the former Tequila's on route 1. The Tequila's license was held by DanversBank as a lien holder and they were given quite a bit of time to find a buyer, but none was found and the license was revoked.
The three businesses that got the liquor licenses all already had Beer/Wine/Cordials licenses that were then issued, after application, to Sunnyside Bowladrome, Londi's, and Bangkok Pepper.

Not another McDonalds in Danvers!
It would be nice to see healthier restaurants move in Danvers. Many people I have talked to are trying to eat healthier and are more conscious about what they put into their body. For instance, Daily Harvest Cafe on High Street uses fresh and high quality ingredients. They are conscientious about the environment and use suppliers that promote sustainability and humane practices. I love this cafe because they offer organic and all-natural products at a reasonable price. Not many restaurants in Danvers can say this. I think we need to pursue healthier restaurants. Just my opinion. Brandy DeAlmeida
