I was sorry to learn that a lady was hit by a car in front of the Post Office Saturday morning. I don't know if she was in a crosswalk or if she was alongside a parked car. In any case, that area is very difficult to navigate because it is terribly congested. Traffic backs up from the light, sometimes all the way back to the church. Cars park in front of the Post Office and there is continual in and out parallel parking. Cars are attempting a left turn into CVS and are attempting left turns to exit. It is very difficult to see pedestrians. Once a lady stopped for me to make a left turn into the CVS lot. Wrong assumption. As I started to make the turn, she lunged forward, obviously distracted and suddenly realized the light had changed and traffic was moving in front of her. Fortunately I stopped in time before making the turn. Bottom line: MAKE SURE THE DRIVER SEES YOU before you step out onto the street. I can only imagine what would have happened had I been walking instead of driving. I don't know what the proper signal is but make sure there is eye contact.
