Looking for some Summer fun? Fiber Art Week at ArcWorks Community Art Center

As anyone who has driven along Foster Street in downtown Peabody the last few months can attest, we are really fiber crazy around here!  The installation of our yarnbombing project (check out this video--http://vimeo.com/38590407), brought a new interest in knitting from a couple of very lovely young ladies.  We took that inspiration, and developed a full week of textile related fun!  Here is the info:

FIBER ART WEEK AT ARCWORKS COMMUNITY ART CENTER!

Monday, July 23 through Friday, July 27

9AM to 12 Noon

Grades 4 through 8

Fiber arts are super fun!  This weeklong intensive will teach you all of the basics to get started.  At the end of the week, you end up with a handmade pillow or small bag!  Each day you will build on the project during class session.

Day One: Dyeing yarn, Day Two: Knitting or Crochet, Day Three: Needlefelting, Day Four: Basic Embroidery & Day Five: Handsewing

Instructors: Diane Ivey, Lynne Parrella, Jan Pacak, and Merritt Kirkpatrick

ArcWorks Community Art Center is an inclusive art center, which means that we work to encourage members of our community of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities to access and participate in the arts, to gain creative confidence and to challenge barriers through integration and innovation.  We house an art gallery, gift shop and classroom space where we offer opportunities for all local artists and residents.  We are proudly governed by the Northeast Arc, and offer programming to both the individuals we serve and the public.
