Downtown Danvers Business to Face Public Hearing

Danvers Coin, Jewelry and Estate Buyers in Danvers Square will face a public hearing in June, for allegedly violating town bylaws.

The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to hold a public hearing at their next meeting to decide if the Danvers Coin, Jewelry and Estate Buyers should have its license suspended, revoked, or limited.  Danvers Police Chief Neil Ouellette briefed the board at Tuesday night's meeting, stating the police department had found several problems when observing the Danvers Square establishment's system. Through investigation by Detective Robert Sullivan, Ouellette said the department learned that, in many instances, the description of the property taken in was very vague and not properply detailed. Daily Harvest Cafe owner Brittany Raesley announced this week via Facebook her plans to open a second cafe.

Daily Harvest Cafe fans expressed their excitement on Facebook after the announcement made on the Daily Harvest Facebook Page this week put an end to speculation, and confirmed what insiders had been whispering about for some time: Daily Harvest Cafe is opening a second branch at Cherry Hill Office Park. The new cafe will have a larger dining room, an area for comfy seating and outdoor seating, according to Beth Desmond, who has worked closely with owner Brittany Raesly since the original cafe opened in 2007.  Perhaps most importantly, the new space will accommodate the cafe’s growing catering demands. “We do a lot of catering at Cherry Hill, so the location makes a lot of sense,” she explained. “There will be a spot for meetings, so …

Revival Fashion Consignment: the Latest Addition To Danvers Square

Gina Sabbagh is the new business owner of Revival, the latest new shop to bring high fashion to Danvers Square.

The sleek window display at Revival Fashion Consignment on Elm Street has been drawing attention since its Grand Opening in April. Customers are treated with an ever-changing assortment of eye-candy, from last week’s collection of cerulean and turquoise tones, to this week’s display of classic black and whites. Owner Gina Sabbagh couldn’t believe that without formal advertising, the opening was still a huge success. “I thought I’d open the doors, hope for the best- maybe still be able to move things around and continue setting things up, but we had a really great turnout,” she said. Perhaps because "you never get a second chance to make a first impression," Sabbagh, has changed her window display more than eight times in one month, …

What a great store! There are so many great items to choose from. I got some coach among other things. Staff is friendly, decor is upscale, and the green initiative is appealing! It's affordable and fun. Why pay full price? Not the same old thing. Great addition to downtown. I would call it a Consignment Boutique!   more ›

High Liner Inc. Announces Danvers Plant Will Close in 2013

High Liner Foods Inc. in Danvers is a processor and marketer of prepared frozen seafood in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.

More than 160 employees will lose their jobs when the High Liner Inc. plant in Danvers closes in 2013. High Liner, located at 18 Electronics Ave., coats and batters fish for the food-service industry, a company spokesman told the Boston Globe. The reason for the plant closure in Danvers, alongside another in Canada, is because the two are considered "the highest-cost and most underutilized facilities," High Liner Foods said in a press release. "High Liner Foods recognizes that this is a very difficult day for the more than 300 employees, as well as their families, in both communities most of whom will be leaving the High Liner family later this year or early next year as a result of this decision,” said Henry Demone, Chief Executive …
