Bekel Memorial YMCA Basketball Tournament and Raffle
The 4th Annual Bekel Memorial YMCA Membership Scholarship Fund Basketball Tournament and Raffle will take place on Sunday, August 12, 2012 from 10:00am to 5:00pm, at the Danvers Community YMCA, in coordination with Executive Director, Lenny Mercier,. This event continues to take place annually, in memory of William and Steven Bekel, father and son, who died in a car accident in May of 2009. The tournament and raffle continue to raise funds for “Y” youth memberships, which are awarded to those who would otherwise not be able to afford this opportunity.
The tournament will be in Round Robin format for males entering 9th grade and up and a 3 game minimum – A and B Division – seeding mostly by age. There will also be a 3-Point Contest taking place between the A and B Division games which will be open to all. The fee for participants is $45 per team ($15.00 per player), paid prior to Sunday August 5, 2012 (includes Fourth Annual Bekel Memorial YMCA Basketball Tournament t-shirt). After August 5th, there will be a $20 late fee added ($65 per team). Space is limited to 16 teams. The first 16 paid registrations are in. No registrations accepted after Friday, August 10, 2012, by 6:00pm. For a tournament registration form and additional information, submit an e-mail to RayPecci755@aol.com . There will be a 50/50 raffle and additional prizes awarded that include a Danvers Community YMCA Youth Membership, Boston sports team memorabilia, sports themed gift basket, and gift certificates from area restaurants and local merchants. Tickets will be drawn and winners announced immediately following the tournament. Watch for ticket sales and prize listings at booths located at McKinnon’s Market, Merchants Liquor Mart, and Stop & Shop in Danvers during the Month of August!
