Second Annual Myopia Sled Dog Races

This sled race is one of the largest to occur in the eastern coast of the continental US. Attracting more then 3,000 spectators and up over 50 competitors, this is one event not to be missed.

The start and finish line for this race is on Monument Field at Appleton Farms. There are four different courses ranging from four to eight miles. Several viewing points are scattered throughout.

Parking is available at the main staging area for a cost of $20 per car. This price includes an event program.

In the event that the snow is not plentiful enough, their are back up dates scheduled for Jan. 22-23 and Feb. 5-6.

Appleton Farms is America's oldest, continuously operating farm.  It is made up of crop fields, livestock pastures, wetlands and forest and historic farm buildings. The property includes footpaths, bridle paths and farm roads available for walking. Grass rides travel through the forest, open fields and wetlands. Permits are required for horseback riding.

There is a waiting list for popular community-supported agriculture shares of fresh produce, flowers and other farm products.

The main entrance to Appleton Farms is in Ipswich at the corner of Bay Road and Waldingfield Road.

Appleton Farms also encompasses the Grass Rides, which features more than five miles of wide paths--originally built for riding, hence the name--through picturesque forests, wetlands and meadows The entrance for the Grass Rides is on Highland Street in Hamilton.
