Board of Health to Discuss Proposed Changes for Town Transfer Station

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Thursday, Sept. 5. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. The Board of Health will meet Thursday to consider, among other items, some proposed changes to the town transfer station. Those changes include extended operating hours, increased tonnage and more recycling. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Toomey Room at Town Hall.
  2. Eleven Danvers residents are walking up to 26.2 miles this Sunday for the annual Boston Marathon Jimmy Fund Walk.
  3. The 12th annual golf tournament in memory of Melissa Barrowclough is this Saturday up in Kingston, N.H. and proceeds from the event benefit youth and teen programs at the Danvers YMCA. You can find registration information here.
  4. There are also a number of parti-time job opportunities at the Y: lifeguards, swim instructors, a swim team coach, after-school group leaders (must be 18 or older), school bus driver and cardio center staff.   5. The Danvers School Committee has its next meeting on Monday and will be settling in at the Mills Communication Center (Room E105) at the high school. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.
