Danvers Relay for Life Throws Halloween Party to Start Season

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 22. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. The season for the Relay for Life of Danvers starts Tuesday with a kickoff party at Danvers High (6 p.m.). Stop by the cafeteria to learn more about the relay and check out the costume contest, trick-or-treating, mummy wrap, face-painting and more. It's all free.
  2. The Planning Board meets Tuesday (7 p.m.) in the Toomey Room at Town Hall. Here's a look at the agenda. The Preservation Commission also meets at 7 p.m. in the Town Manager's Conference Room (agenda here) and the Municipal Light Board meets at 8:30 a.m. at 2 Burroughs St. (agenda here).
  3. The DoubleTree Boston North Shore is celebrating its first anniversary as part of the DoubleTree family on Wednesday (5:30-8 p.m.). There will be rich fall flavors of New England and some local brews.
  4. The date for the dedication and public celebration of the newly renovated Danvers High School is this Saturday from 10 a.m. - noon. There will be tours led by students and a reception inside the Atrium following the ceremony.
  5. Holy Trinity Methodist Church on Sylvan Street is holding its fall harvest fair on Saturday from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
