Danvers Scouts Catch the Bruins at Home Thanks to TD Bank

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Thursday, Nov. 7. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. Danvers Boy Scout Troop 155 got to spend some time at the TD Bank Community Clubhouse Tuesday for a Boston Bruins game at TD Garden. The bank says it hosts the program at each Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins home game, allowing nonprofit organizations all over New England the opportunity to watch their favorite pro sports teams in action. At the game, the youngsters were treated to loge seats, dinner, court and ice level access, and featured on the LED Screen, NESN and CSNNE. “We feel it is important to invest in our communities and feel it is great that the Boy Scouts have the opportunity to come to this event, which is a fun and safe way to spend the night. Supporting the group not only supports the community and organization but also lets families experience our brand,” said Lindsey Rheault, a TD Bank representative.
  2. The Veterans Day ceremonies in town will be a little different this year in order to dedicate a new monument at the Danvers Veterans Memorial Fields at the Thorpe School. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. at the school. The guest speaker will be retired U.S. Army Capt. Charles Gould, Commander of the Danvers American Legion Post #180 and a former Danvers resident. Those in attendance may place small American flags in the memorial wreath to honor a veteran once the service concludes.
  3. In local sports news, the St. John's Prep soccer club plays Madison Park on Thursday (5 p.m.) at Manning Field in Lynn for a semi-final game in Division 1 North.
  4. State Sen. Joan Lovely's office will be holding constituent office hours Friday at Town Hall from 9-10 a.m. Appointments are encouraged.
  5. The annual holiday craft fair at All Saints Episcopal Church of the North Shore is this Saturday from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
  6. The Liberty Tree Mall is hosting a local preliminary contest for the Sunburst Beauty Pageant on Sunday at 1 p.m. Kids age three and under and females up to age 27 are welcome to enter the pageant. The fee is $45. More details here on how to register.
