Early Release Day and No More Water Ban

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Wednesday, Oct. 2. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. There's an early release day Wednesday for students in grades K-12 at the Danvers Public Schools. The high school and middle school lets out at 12:45 p.m. while elementary schools dismiss pupils at 1:15 p.m. Lunch will be served. There will also be afternoon preschool with dismissal at 2:10 p.m. The early release is for teacher professional development. Staff will be focusing on analyzing student achievement data.
  2. The seasonal water restrictions are over. Between October and May, there are no local or state bans or limitations on residents' outdoor watering, but the town does ask everyone to be mindful of conserving water year round.
  3. Danvers High sports: The Danvers High School varsity golf team travels to Winthrop Wednesday (3:45 p.m.) while field hockey hosts Salem (3:45 p.m.). On Thursday, boys' soccer travels to Salem (4 p.m.) while girls' soccer hosts the Witches (6:30 p.m.). Golf is also back in action hosting Arlington Catholic (3:45 p.m.).

  5. Hank Phillippi Ryan will be over at Barnes & Noble in Peabody Saturday (1 p.m.) for a book signing on her newest thriller "The Wrong Girl," which was just released Sept. 10.
