Early Release Day Wednesday for Danvers Schools

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Tuesday, Oct. 1. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. The Danvers Board of Selectmen meets tonight (7 p.m.) at Town Hall. Among the agenda items are the discussion of Town Manager Wayne Marquis' annual performance evaluation and a Class 1 Dealer's license for the newly renovated Ira Porsche dealership on Route 114. The dealership is located at 97C Andover St. on the Ira campus owned by Group 1 Automotive. Renovations at Ira Porsche just wrapped up last month.
  2. There's an early release day Wednesday for students in grades K-12 at the Danvers Public Schools. The high school and middle school lets out at 12:45 p.m. while elementary schools dismiss pupils at 1:15 p.m. Lunch will be served. There will also be afternoon preschool with dismissal at 2:10 p.m. The early release is for teacher professional development. Staff will be focusing on analyzing student achievement data.
  3. Author Stephanie Lehmann will be at the Peabody Institute Library of Danvers Wednesday evening (7 p.m.) for a visit. Her latest novel is "Astor Place Vintage."

  5. Saturday is Household Hazardous Waste Day in DanversSafely dispose of household cleaners and other items from 8 a.m. - noon at the transfer station.
