Thanksgiving Service Tuesday; Operation Troop Support Needs Help Saturday

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Tuesday, Nov. 26. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. The annual ecumenical Thanksgiving service in town is Tuesday at Maple Street Congregational Church (7 p.m.).
  2. Town Hall, the library and other town offices are closed for the holiday both Thursday and Friday.
  3. The annual Thanksgiving Day game between Danvers and Gloucester is up in Gloucester (10 a.m.) and St. John's Prep hosts Xaverian Brothers this year (10:15 a.m.) to continue the longstanding rivalry.
  4. Operation Troop Support needs some extra hands Saturday when it puts addresses on those thousands of Christmas packages volunteers have spent time wrapping and brings them over to the Danvers Post Office for shipment overseas. The day begins at 9 a.m. at the VFW Hall at 5 Conant St. Stop down if you'd like to help out and volunteer.
  5. The town Transfer Station will be open this Saturday from 7 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. for leaf disposal.
