There's a Fiberglass Cow Moving in at Little Shop of Treasures

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Wednesday, Dec. 18. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. Some of the cows aren't traveling far from the Hilltop. The iconic Saugus steakhouse on Route 1 closed its doors for good recently and has sold off all sorts of items inside and outside the restaurant, including those life-size fiberglass cows. Angela and Dave Luongo, who operate Little Shop of Treasures at the Liberty Tree Mall, recently acquired one of the cows via a friend and will have it on display as an attraction in their novelty toy shop in January.
  2. Operation Troop Support is having its Christmas party Thursday at the Danvers VFW. If you and a guest would like to attend RSVP via email to operationtroopsupport@gmail.com.
  3. Once the final bell rings on Friday, the Danvers Public Schools will be on vacation until Jan. 2. Have any fun things planned for the break?
  4. Stop down to Goodies Ice Cream Sunday for a sundae with Mrs. ClausThere will be fresh baked cookies and hot cocoa as well. Once Mrs. Kringle arrives, there will be a reading of "Twas the Night Before Christmas," Itty-Bitty Sundaes and more. Space is limited so call Goodies at 978-763-4663 to reserve your ticket.
  5. A crime prevention tip from the Danvers Police Department: "Ladies, we are seeing more women forgetting their purses in their shopping carts after loading their purchases into their car. Please consider shopping with only your wallet in your pocket, or a smaller wristlet/cross-body bag kept on your person. And please, double check your shopping cart before leaving the parking lot!"
