Walnut Grove Adds Town's First Columbarium Garden to Cemetery

Here's what you need to know today in Danvers.

Today is Friday, Nov. 15. Here are five things to know today in Danvers.

  1. As part of some recent improvements, Walnut Grove Cemetery has opened up its first columbarium garden. The term generally refers to a permanent resting place for cremated remains. Walnut Grove says the number of cremations nationwide are on the rise and in line with that, the board of trustees has invested in three columbarium monuments. The cemetery also has a redesigned logo now and a new website. You can read more here.
  2. The Danvers Garden Club has launched its annual Christmas Wreath Sale. More details here.
  3. This Friday at the North Shore Business ForumErin Calvo-Bacci of The Chocolate Truffle in Reading will talk about customer appreciation. The forum meets at 7:30 a.m. over breakfast at the Danversport Yacht Club.
  4. The One Fund Peabody road race is set for Saturday over at Lt. Ross Park in Peabody. There is a 6-mile run and a 3-mile walk. All proceeds benefit the One Fund Boston for victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.
  5. Stop in to Goodies Ice Cream Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. for the Great Oak School's fifth grade fundraiser. The money raised at the event will help pay for students' yearbooks, celebratory parties, t-shirts and the moving on ceremony.
